Lagos State Government to Offer Free Legal Services To Lagosians

The Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem has made it known that free legal services will be provided to residents of Lagos State, as part of activities slated for the celebration of the Year 2017 edition of the United Nations International Day of Peace scheduled for Thursday, 21st of September, 2017.

The free legal services will be provided to Lagosians by the Lagos State Citizens Mediation Centre (CMC).

The Commissioner in a press conference stated that the free legal advice and mediation services would be rendered to Lagosians within Ikorodu Road and Ibeju-Lekki axis on the 18th and 19th of September, 2017.

According to the Commissioner, the State Government believes that in celebrating the day, the global community would further focus attention on issues that would promote peaceful co-existence.

He maintained that the present situation of the country attests to the fact that peace is needed to engender the concept of Sustainable Development Goals and for positive impact on humanity.

Kazeem averred that “The Citizens’ Mediation Centre, in collaboration with the United Nations Information Office, is set to mark the annual International Day of Peace to propagate the ethos of peaceful co-existence among residents in the State as a way of educating and sensitizing the public on the need for peaceful co-existence and respect for human dignity that will engender socio-economic growth.”

He added that the importance which the State Government attaches to peaceful conduct of businesses, hospitality, tourism among others informed the establishment of agencies that will attend to matters relating to Land Grabbers, Special Task Force, donation of Police Vehicles for security, introduction of DNA Forensic laboratory to archive blood samples of criminals, as well as other laudable initiatives.
