Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande has reiterated that the leadership of his party in the southwest are not clamouring fora restructuring of the country, rather for a devolution of power which decentralized power from the centre.

He made this known yesterday evening after leaders of the party in South West, had concluded the stakeholders’ meeting in Agodi Government House, Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

Chief Akande said, “Restructuring is not our language. Go and ask those who are advocating for restructuring to define it. What I told you just now is devolution of function from the centre to the state and to the local government.” The APC stalwart also made it known that the presidential ticket of the party is open, and President Muhammadu Buhari is not going to be given an automatic ticket, if at all he signifies his interest for a second term.

“President Buhari has not told us he is running for 2019 presidential election. Anybody in our party is free to become the president of Nigeria as long as he indicates interest. We have a process through which a candidate will be selected. If he is lucky to have the ticket, then we have no option than to present him as our candidate,” he said.
