Dino Melaye is quite a popular figure, because of how controversial he is, from the certificate scandal and then his ongoing feud with his erstwhile friend, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state. He has been quite vocal of his condemnation of Yahaya’s government, his anti-people policies, his excessive back log of unpaid salaries and other issues currently plaguing Kogi state.
Happenings.com.ng gathered that, on the 25th of October 2017, the highly controversial senator during a senate plenary session, went on his knees, in a plea to the leadership of the upper National Assembly, to save his North central state, Kogi from the hard times they were currently facing.
To give weight to his pleas, he sited several examples, showing how the people of Kogi were suffering, the latest being the suicide of a father of triplets, Edward soje, who was an unpaid civil servant, owed for 11 months.
He also sited the viral video of the couple weeping profusely, at the loss of their child, who died in the hospital, as a result of their inability to afford medical treatment. Amidst all of these contention hanging over Gov. Yahaya Bello’s head, he banned all forms of ‘Student Unionism’, within state owned tertiary institutions.
The ‘Ajekun Iya’ crooner also added that; Governor Yahyah should be questioned on how he spent the ‘Paris Club’ bailout funds disbursed to Kogi state which was meant for paying workers’ salaries and other state projects.
