As the guest lecturer for Coson week day 2, which started yesterday, the 29th of October 2017, many had expected to see and interact with the honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed but that did not happen.

Mr Tony Okoroji, the chief host and the organiser of the Coson Week lecture tagged ‘Intellectual Property Rights In The New Global Knowledge Economy’ had to appease attendees, stating the real reason why the honourable minister could not make it to the occasion.

It was said that, the Nigerian lawyer and former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was unavoidably absent, because the President of Ivory Coast, Alassane Dramane Ouattara is expected to arrive in Abuja today.

Meanwhile, the amiable minister was ably represented by the Minister of Foreign Affair, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama. The very articulate and witty minister did not only do justice to the topic, but also educated the guests on the stages of copyright and intellectual collective society; the importance and how it could benefit individual, stakeholders and the country’s economy citing several examples.

However, it will also interest you to know that, President Ouattara worked for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Central Bank of West African States (French: Banque Centrale des États de l’Afrique de l’Ouest, BCEAO) and he is expected to be well received by the honourable Minister of Information and Culture and other government officials.

Some of the dignitaries that attended the lecture includes; Commissioner of Information Lagos, Hon. Steve Ayorinde; Larry Izamoje, Patrick Doyle and other notable personalities from different part of the country.
