For his remarkable show of integrity at the 2015 Presidential election, former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan has established himself as an African leader worth emulating. This has also garnered him respect in the international community.
Happenings.com.ng gathered that the United Nations has commended the former President, for the electoral reforms he initiated during his tenure.
They are also applauding his efforts, to promote peace and stability in Africa, while extolling his achievements, the UN held on to the hope that institutions and the high standards he had established with regards credible and peaceful elections are sustained in Nigeria.
The global organization made this known during a courtesy call to Goodluck, on the 4th of November 2017, by a delegation led by Ambassador Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel and Chairman of the Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission (CNMC).
On his part, the Nigerian leader reiterated his belief in peace and credible election processes, saying that the peaceful transference of power remains one of the main focus of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation.
He also expressed his readiness to encourage and work with the envoy to achieve its mandate in the area of peace across Africa and the rest of the world.
