A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebisi Yusuff has enjoined Muslims and Nigerians as a whole to shun bitterness and acrimony, saying the lessons of the Maulid Nabiyy celebration, is mainly the spirit of togetherness.

Yusuff gave this advice in a statement which he personally signed and made available to newsmen, urging Nigerians to embrace unity.
In his own words; “As Muslims commemorate the birthday of the Holy Prophet of Islam, I wish to  congratulate the Muslims, people in Alimosho area of Lagos State and the entire world on the celebration.”

The lawmaker who is representing Alimosho constituency 1 added, “The Maulid Nabiyy celebration (birthday of the Prophet) is indeed significant for the great people of Alimosho and Nigeria as a whole. One of the greatest lessons that are inherent for people of all faiths to adopt in the celebration is tolerance.

“Muhammad (PBUH) in Madina as the overall Leader for the entire Muslim nations administered not only the Muslims but also the Jews and the Christians. They all lived peacefully under His divine reign without rancour. Let everyone of us imbibe this spirit of tolerance and shun hatred and divisive tendencies.

“It is also noteworthy to state that the celebration provides a moment to adopt sincerity and trustworthiness in our dealings with our fellow brothers and sisters. The Apostle of Allah was honoured as Al-Amin (The trustworthy) by the Makkans due to His honesty. Let’s uphold honesty and fear of God in our daily life.

“I therefore enjoin you all to do away with acrimony, violence and restiveness and embrace love, peace and spirit of togetherness in Alimosho and the country at large. The differences in religion, political affiliations and tribes should not be allowed to divide us. Let’s stand for a united Nigeria,” Yusuff said.
