Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo may not have given up on his resolve to stop the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar from becoming the next president, come 2019 general elections.

Atiku who recently left the All Progressive Congress (APC), rejoined his former party – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party he once founded with his contemporaries.

Permutations in the political circle is fast drifting towards Atiku getting the PDP Presidential ticket and this would give him an opportunity to face off President Muhammadu Buhari at the 2019 presidential elections, should he win the re-election bid for his political party, APC.

In light of this development, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who is not favourably disposed to Atiku becoming the next President of Nigeria, will up his ante in ensuring the PDP’s Presidential ticket eludes him (Atiku).

However, Atiku is inclined towards mending fences with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, see here: https://hapmag.s3.amazonaws.com/road-2019-atiku-abubakar-agrees-consult-obasanjo/

Happenings.com.ng reliably gathered that Obasanjo has secretly reached out to his ‘political son’, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to begin implementing plans to move to PDP from APC, in a bid to checkmate and demystify Atiku in PDP.

Recall that Atiku’s desire to be the president of Nigeria, can be dated to 2003 when President Obasanjo was president, seeking a second term in office. Atiku who had served as the vice president of Nigeria for two consecutive terms between 1999 and 2007 under Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has been in conflict with him since then.

In his autobiography, ‘My Watch’, Obasanjo makes his antagonism clear when he says “what would have been an unpardonable mistake and sin against God would have been to foist him (Atiku) on Nigeria”.
