In recognition and appreciation of the good work of the Governor of Lagos, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, especially on Christian Pilgrimage operations in Nigeria, the Christian Conscience group of Nigeria, over the weekend presented an award of recognition to the Governor at the State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
According to the Chairman of the Christian Conscience Group, Chief Enoch Ajiboso, the presentation of the award was as a result of the great performance of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Ambode.
In his words, “Governor Ambode has distinguished himself as an inspirational and transformational leader in several sectors like infrastructural development, tourism, job creation and economic empowerment, and he has also been able to engender and sustain a peaceful coexistence of religious groups in Lagos State.”
Speaking further, Ajiboso also commended the state government for providing an enabling environment for the smooth operations of the Christian and Muslim Holy Pilgrimages, which led to the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board winning seven different awards in 2016.
Receiving the Award, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Hakeem Abdul Lateef thanked all the Christian associations and groups for the honour bestowed on Governor Ambode, noting that the recent inauguration of the religious council showed the importance this administration attached to religious harmony in the State.
Abdul-Hakeem revealed that Governor Ambode will have an interfaith parley of religious bodies soon to explore avenues to a continuous partnership with the faith-based organisation to ensure peaceful coexistence across the State.
