The camp of President Muhammadu Buhari at the moment is beset with panic, after former president, Olusegun Obasanjo in a press statement titled ‘The Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement’ lambasts the President, saying he has performed below expectation.
Thus he must forget about his re-election bid and honourably “dismount from the horse”. The former president whose administration ran for two terms and was clandestinely bidding for a third term, on the PDP platform, expressed his disappointment at the state of the nation under the Buhari-led- administration.
Recall that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo supported President Buhari during the 2015 election, flagarantly going against his former party’s representative, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Why panic sweeps the camp of Buhari’s loyalists, is not far fetched, as Chief Olusegun Segun Obasanjo is known as a political juggernaut with far reaching political influences.
Recall also that because he did not lend his support to former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Second term bid in 2015, he lost the election. The same can be said of the matter with late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, who although winning the June 12 election never ruled Nigeria.
Lending credence to the urban myth that whoever does not get the support of Obasanjo will either lose an election or never get the chance to enter the Nigerian corridors of power.
