Bola Ige Alleged Killer, Fryo Launches Foundation For Street Urchins

ADEBARE AKINWALE

Years after he was alleged to have confessed in a dramatic and controversial manner to the killing of a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige, Mr. Gbenga Adebayo, popularly called Fryo, has launched a foundation to cater for street urchins

The foundation, Back to Life Foundation, is focused on rehabilitation and reintegration of street urchins popularly called ‘area boys’.

Fryo, who later denied his alleged confession to the killing of Chief Ige, accusing his then lawyer, Festus Keyamo of masterminding the entire drama, used the occasion of the launching to call on governments at all levels and good-spirited Nigerians not to give up on the cause of rehabilitating area boys.

In his address at the launch of the foundation, Adebayo said, he chose to assist street urchins because it is the best way to reduce vices in the society. According to him, the Back to Life Foundation is not just like any other, but one that is committed to rehabilitating and reforming the street boys, so that they can be useful to themselves and the society.

The event, which had Osun governorship hopeful, Dr. Kayode Oduoye as guest speaker and Engr. Seyi Makinde as chief launcher, saw artistic displays by a group of young talents the foundation intends to promote.

In his paper, Dr. Oduoye said: “If something is not done about the growing trend of street urchins, no one is safe in the land.”
Oduoye added: “Any society that cannot take care of its poor cannot guarantee the safety of its rich.”
He also called for massive support for the foundation so it could achieve its set objectives.

Dignitaries at the event include Hon. Soji Adagunodo, who led chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the event. The chief launcher, Engr. Seyi Makinde was represented by his brother, Seye Makinde.

A former speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adejare Bello, former Commissioner of Finance, Mr Adetoyese Ojo, who represented Senator Iyiola Omisore, were also present.
