Armed Robbery Syndicates Dismantled in Lagos State

In line with the objective of the Lagos state Commissioner of Police (CP), Edgal Imohimi to keep Lagosians safe, several armed robbery syndicates across the state were dismantled. On Wednesday, 6th June 2018, these criminals were paraded before members of the press.

According to the CP, these syndicates were dismantled across several parts of Lagos; Bariga, Fadeyi, Onipanu, Victoria Island. Dangerous weapons and charms, used in terrorizing residents in these parts of Lagos were recovered from these criminals.

Furthermore several armed gangs, known for specializing in traffic robberies at Awori bus stop, Abule-Egba, Ikeja, Ogba routes were apprehended by the police and their vehicle, a Volkswagen Vanago Bus and two vehicle number plates were confiscated. The suspects in custody for these traffic robberies are: Ifeanyi Eze, Innocent Nwabugo, Emmanuel Sunday Eno, Samson Adigun, Timothy Ekpo. The loot from their robberies were also confiscated.

An armed gang known for snatching vehicles at gunpoint were apprehended on the 31st of May 2018, by operatives attached to SCIID Yaba. These men, Emeka Eze and Okwudili Emmanuel were intercepted along the ECOWAS route, Lagos/Badagry Expressway, Lagos by Alaba international market axis, as they attempted to sell the stolen vehicle – a 1994 grey Honda Saloon car, with vehicle registration numbers LND-192-CA. The owner of the stolen vehicle was contacted, presently the police is involved in an investigation to recover other vehicles stolen by this gang.

These arrests according to Edgal Imohimi, were made possible, by credible intels from law abiding Lagosians, provided to the police. He went further to say these were the dividends of community policing in Lagos state.He also extolled the vigilance of Lagosians and their willingness to cooperate with law enforcement.
