Police Confiscate Several Guns and Ammunition from Criminals Across Lagos State


In line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police that arms and ammunition, must be mopped from the country, the police, confiscated several dangerous weapons and ammunition from several Armed Robbery syndicates across Lagos state.

According to the commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, on the 31st of May 2018, the divisional police officer (DPO), Alakara Division, CSP M. Buba was hinted by a community member that a sack containing a cache of weapons were kept in the premises of Eko Boys High School, off Martins Street, Mushin. On getting this intel, the DPO and his team of officers swung into action and promptly recovered the sack.

The weapons in the sack at the time of recovery are: One Magnum double barrel pump action rifle, Double barrel pump action, One Berretta Pistol, 9mm live ammunition, Ten Live cartridges. It is thought that the gang who own these weapons abandoned them at the school, for fear of police scrutiny and retribution.

In the same vein, several weapons were recovered from an armed robbery syndicate that has held, Ladi Lak Bariga, Onipanu, Ikeja, Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Ilasan areas of the state hostage. The command undercover operative and men of FSARS dismantled this notorious syndicate and recovered their weapons; 1 pump action rifle, 2 locally made pistols, 8 live cartridges. Also cutlasses were recovered from these hoodlums.

In the Ajegunle area of Lagos, two men (Chinonso Uzoma and Seun Alaba) were arrested while in possession of one locally made pistol and one expended cartridge, they will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.

The commissioner of police, Edgal Imohimi said the police force is unrelenting in their efforts to ensure dangerous weapons are removed from Lagos state and to ensure the safety of Lagosians.
