In a move of utter disgrace, Croatian striker Nikola Kalinic was sent home from the World Cup 2018, currently hosted in Russia, by the coach of the Croatian football team, Zlatko Dalic for allegedly faking a back injury.
According to reports, faking a back injury stemmed from his refusal to be substituted in the match against Nigeria on Saturday, 16th June 2018 at Kalingrad in Russia. Reportedly he also refused to be substituted in the friendly match against Brazil.
The coach unconvinced by his petty excuse, dismissed him and sent him back home to Croatia in disgrace . It is alleged that his refusal to participate in the Match against Nigeria, is an act of racism, as he allegedly told his team mates that “he didn’t want to play with so many blacks”.
The Croatian Coach, Zlatco Dalic hinted to reporters after the 2-0 victory against Nigeria that, they may have won the game and finished the game without injuries but “with a problem”.
It is yet unclear if the disgrace of Nikola Kalinic would jeopardize his career in club football amidst a rumoured move to Sevilla football club.
