Lagos 2019: Why Oba Akiolu Kept Mute Over Ambode’s Failed Second Term Bid

Babajide Sanwo-Olu won with a wide margin, putting an end to Ambode’s 2019 governorship campaign.

All through the process,  leading to the selection of Sanwo-Olu,  Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, only kept mute and watched as events unfolded.

His silence many believe, show unhappiness with the top hierarchy of Lagos APC, following the onslaught of his anointed son.

Recall four years ago, Oba  Akiolu threatened fire and brimstone on those who opposed the emergence of  Ambode as governor of  Lagos

Oba Akiolu made the highly controversial comment as part of the campaign to help Ambode to power in 2015.

Consequently, the drama forced the Lagos monarch to travel out of the country to possibly stay away from the humiliation meted on Ambode.

Thus, Oba Akiolu despite his love for Ambode, was helpless because Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the king are major players in the schemes of things in the state. Jagaban even more so.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was also instrumental to Oba Akiolu’s emergence as the Oba of Lagos many years back.
