WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has apologized to a mascot he floored on Spanish language sports show Nacion ESPN.

Deontay was on the show to promote his upcoming fight with Tyson Fury on December 1.

The American punched the giant Tortilla in the face on request of the presenters and it it fell flat on the floor.

Reports are that the jaw of the mascot was broken after he was at the receiving end of the punch, a situation the boxer has come out to apologise for on social media.

“Anything headlining I didn’t know a human being was in there is just straight click-baiting,” Wilder wrote on Instagram.

“I sincerely apologise to the brave man that was injured (if this is true). I have the utmost respect for him, his participation, willingness and courage.

“If this (injured mascot) is true, I personally would like to invite him to my 1 December fight.

The 32-year-old defends his WBC heavyweight title against Tyson Fury in his next fight coming up on December 1.
