Libya interim head coach Omar Al-Maryami, is confident The Mediterranean Knights will defeat the Super Eagles in Sfax, Tunisia.

Libya was thrashed 4-0 by Nigeria in the first leg of their AFCON 2019 Qualifications match in Uyo on Saturday.

A hat-trick for Odion Ighalo and a Samuel Kalu fine finish helped take the Eagles go two points above Libya.

With the return leg set to be played in Sfax, Tunisia on Tuesday, Al-Maryami is in positive mood.

“We were unlucky not to have scored minutes after we conceded, but this result hasn’t changed anything. We have a good team and we will fight,” Al-Maryami told Complete Sports.

“This is a young squad that is very ambitious. We lost the game due to some little details and the first goal we conceded affected us.

“Unfortunately, we lost three points but we are sure of taking them back in the second leg, but we must attack the Nigerian team to score.”

Both Nigeria(6points) and Libya(4points) are second and third on the log behind South Africa who have 7 from three games. Seychelles is bottom with no point.
