UEFA Nations League : Spain Lose 3-2 At Home To England

A fine first-half performance by the Three Lions helped them defeat Spain 3-2 in Seville in the UEFA Nations League.

Two goals from Raheem Sterling and one for Marcus Rashford in the first half gave the visitors a 3-0 half-time lead.

In-form Dortmund man Paco Alcacer pulled one back before Ramos scored late on to put some respect to the scoreline.

The defeat ended Spain’s 38 matches run without losing at home in competitive games, a run that has lasted 15 years.

Raheem Sterling started the scoring on 16 minutes into the game with an expertly taken strike from 20 yards. Marcus Rashford had done some good work to find Sterling with an exquisite pass, before the Manchester City man finished.

Rashford turned from provider to scorer 13 minutes later when he placed his strike low off an Harry Kane assist.

Kane again provided the assist for England’s third goal as Sterling got his second of the night.

The Three Lions took their three goals lead into the as they looked to get their first win against Spain.

After the break, Spain fought to get back in the game and they did just that thirteen minutes after tge restart. Substitute Paco Alcacer headed home a fine delivery by Marco Asensio to give the homeside some home.

Spain dominated possession as they tried to get a second goal but it didn’t come until deep into additional time. Ramos heading home a Ceballos cross.

Spain are still top of the group on six points with England in close proximity on four. Croatia are last on the log with just one point from two games.
