Italy legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes his PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe has a shot at this year’s Ballon d’Or.
The 19-year-old had an exceptional World Cup with France, scoring four goals as Les Blues conquered the World.
The forward has continued with his good form for his club side, netting 10 times in their first 7 league games.
Mbappe was named the best young Player at the World Cup and has also been nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or award.
Buffon has been impressed by the Frenchman’s ability and thinks he deserves the accolade.
Speaken on French TV show Tout le Sport, the former Juventus man said:
“Given his qualities, what he shows on the field, and how decisive he was during the World Cup, he deserves it, yes. I cannot say the opposite.
“In Italy, he is compared to [Roberto] Baggio, [Alessandro] Del Piero and [Francesco] Totti.
“But he has an exceptional talent and technical qualities as I have rarely seen.
“It’s a phenomenon. And if he persists in wanting to be the best, if he remains enthusiastic and keeps his normal behavior, he can last a very long time.”
