The Real Reason for the ‘No Woman No Vote’ Campaign

Preparations are underway for the 2019 general elections. Thus several political parties having conducted primaries have chosen their flag bearers in the upcoming general elections.

Furthermore these political flag bearers have been chosen across board. At Governorship and National Assembly level.

Consequently there is an emerging trend that women are not chosen as flagbearers for these plum positions.

A former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ita Giwa, organized a campaign. Hence, she is the converner of the campaign.

The campaign was held in Lagos and it was themed ‘No Woman No Vote’.

Women irrespective of their political parties are lending their voice and advocating for the right to vote in Nigeria.

In addition, women will vote for any woman running for office, regardless of political party.

Senator Ita Giwa went on to say the moment is to create a thriving political environment for the girl child. Also in government at large.

The campaign is to overall encourage women to have a strong voice like Late Olufunmilayo Ransome Kutiand Margret Ekpo.

These women who fought for the liberation of Nigeria women.

It remains to be seen if the ‘No Woman No Vote Campign’ will have an impact, come the 2019, general elections.
