Enugu Rangers came back from 3-0 down to defeat Kano-Pillars in the finals of the 2018 Aiteo Cup in Asaba.

In what was one of the most exciting finals in the competition history, Rangers broke a 35-year-old cup jinx to win on penalties.

Pillars had raced into a three-goal lead through strikes by Rabiu Ali, Alhasan Ibrahim and Nyima Nwagua before 50 minutes.

But the Easterners where far from done in the contest. Itoya started the comeback with his strike on 77 minutes.

Chidera Ezeh scored five minutes later before substitute Ibrahim Ajani pulled level in the first minute of added time.

Super Eagles midfielder Rabiu Ali and Jimoh missed from 12-yards as Rangers ended their 35 years wait in style.

The win means both Okey Odita and Thomas Olufemi have now won the trophy three times respectively.

By virtue of this win, Rangers have now earned the right to represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.

Congratutions to Gbenga Ogunbote, his players and everyone associated with the flying antelopes.
