The Super Eagles of Nigeria have commenced preparations for their all important clash against the Bafafa Bafana of South Africa.

It was almost a full house as the Eagles had a light training session at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba.

Twenty-two players are already in camp with only Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu being expected to join the team.

Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi were left of the team while Odion Ighalo and Francis Uzoho miss out through injury. Henry Onyekuru and Theophilus Afelokhai have been called up as replacements for both players.

Wilfered Ndidi who has expressed his desire to play in the continental showpiece is suspended. The midfielder received his second yellow card in the qualifying campaign against Libya.

The Eagles are looking to seal qualification for the African championship to be hosted next year in Cameroon.

Nigeria lost their opening game of the qualification series 2-0 at home to South Africa but have gone on win three consecutive games to seat top of the group.

An away win against Seychelles and back-to-back victories over Libya leaves the team needing just a win to qualify.

Revenge against the Bafana-Bafana would surely be on the agenda of the team who’ve improved since that defeat in Uyo.

The Nigerian team will travel to Johannesburg on Friday ahead of the clash on Saturday.
