Controversial politician, Senator, Buruji Kashamu has emerged as the new Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate.
Kashamu retained the seat following the withdrawal of Adeleke Shittu from the race.
Adeleke we reliably gathered voluntarily dropped his ambition to pave way for Buruji who is believed to be a more popular choice by the party stakeholders.
Accordingly, stands a better chance of winning at the gubernatorial poll. Austin Oniyokor, Kashamu’s aide confirmed this latest development.
He noted that Kashamu has a better chance and financial muscle to contest against any opposition party in Ogun State.
He reiterated further that the former presidential spokesman, Rueben Abati still remains the party’s deputy governorship candidate despite the change.
Kashamu, aside from his extradition fracas in EFCC, is an unshakable fixture in Ogun State politics. Shortly before becoming a senator, he was a businessman.
He is the chairman and CEO of Kamal Group of Companies, an indigenous conglomerate with interests in hospitality, oil and gas, and investment services.
Kashamu in 2015 won a senatorial seat in the Ogun East Senatorial District on the platform of (PDP).
