The incumbent governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has retained the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship ticket in his state.
The former speaker on Monday was confirmed by INEC as Sokoto State PDP governorship flag bearer.
Tambuwal lost to the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the PDP Presidential primaries in Port Harcourt, last month October.
He came second behind Atiku who won with a slight margin.
Knowing he might not win at the presidential primaries, his close aide, Manir Dan’iya has been holding the fort for him as the governorship candidate.
Dan’iya was chosen in Sokoto as the consensus candidate to hold the position for the incumbent governor.
He has been replaced by Tambuwal as PDP’s Sokoto Guber candidate.
As it stands, Dan’iya will run with Tambuwal as deputy governorship candidate in the state.
Before now, the former speaker of the Federal House of Representative has maintained a strong voice in the palace of leaders.
Tambuwal has remained clean of financial scandals in all his public leadership positions.
