Why Oyegun Defected To PDP With 10,000 Supporters in Edo State

Former National Chairman of All Progressive Congress(APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State.

Oyegun after several months of consultations and deliberations with his followers on Saturday decamped to PDP with 10,000 supporters.

Oyegun took the decision to dump the APC following the controversies which trailed his removal as the national chairman of the party.

He also sensed several crises and political doom in the party as the 2019 general elections draw near.

Before he was humiliated out of office, Oyegun tried all possible means to retain the seat. However, it dawned on him hearing that President Buhari was backing Oshiomhole as the next chairman of the party.

Even with the support of some state governors, Oyegun’s power and structure in the party could not move mountains to hold on to the party leadership.

Hence he withdrew from the race and gave his fellow countryman, Adams Oshiomhole a chance as the new chairman of APC.

Oyegun after his unceremonious exit as party chairman recoiled into his shell and watched as political events unfolded.

Preparation is ongoing by Edo State PDP to give Oyegun and his supporters a historic welcome into the party in a matter of days.
