Court Order EFCC To Arraign Diezani And Jide Omokore February 2019

A High Court sitting in Apo, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Monday granted the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) leave to arraign former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison Madueke on February 25, 2019.

Her cohort, former Chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling company, Olajide Omokore would also face the wrath of the law on the same date.

The embattled former minister and Omokore are facing five counts. Bothering on conspiracy and illegal act of accepting and giving gratifications.

Although before now, Diezani had refused to honour EFCC’s invitation in Nigeria. However, with the latest development, a process is in place to move Diezani to Nigeria to face trial.

EFCC has also finalized documents with the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. To ensure Diezani arrive Nigeria before February 25, 2019, for her trial.

Recall, Diezani was the former Petroleum minister under Goodluck Jonathan administration.  Thus, Taxpayer’s billions were allegedly syphoned into her personal account under the close watch of the former President.

Recall also, the commission initiated plans last year to extradite Diezani from the UK. But she was pardoned over a health issue.

As the process of her extradition is ongoing there are indications that Diezani will not escape the dragnet of EFCC this time.
