Cristiano Ronaldo has invited his long time rival, Lionel Messi who’s played his entire career with Barcelona to join him in Italy.

Both men are regarded as the two best players of their generation and arguably the greatest of all-time.

Having competed against each other for every honours over the last decade Ronaldo who left Real Madrid for Juventus last summer has suggested his eternal rival could be missing him.

Ronaldo spent 9 successful years in the Spanish capital before his shock departure to Serie A champions Juventus.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese was asked if he misses Messi, to which he answered: “No, maybe he misses me!

“I played in England, Spain, Italy, Portugal, in the national team, while he is still in Spain. Maybe he needs me more.

“For me, life is a challenge, I like it and I like to make people happy.

“I would like him to come to Italy one day. Like me, accept the challenge.

“However, if he is happy there, I respect him.

“He is a fantastic player, a good guy but I do not miss anything here. This is my new life and I’m happy.”
