Igbo leaders in the South East region of the country have mutually agreed to support Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi for 2019 presidency.
After several consultations in the region, the leaders comprising women groups, traditional and religious group, endorsed Atiku and Obi for the plum job.
The Igbo leaders in a statement released on Wednesday at the one-day summit said the decision of the Igbos is based on the restructuring agenda which Atiku and Obi put on the table for the country, should they emerge victorious.
Speaking at the summit, the Chairman of Ohaneze of Igbo land, Chief Nwodo appreciated Atiku for the choice of Obi as his running mate.
Nwodo confirmed Obi as one of the best in Igbo land who has redefined governance during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.
Before now Igbo leaders and members of PDP spoiled for war over the choice of Peter Obi as the running mate.
The leaders believed consultation was supposed to be made before taking such a decision.
As it is stands, consultation has completed and the Igbo leaders have signaled support for Peter Obi to represent the region because of his past glory in Anambra State.
Aside PDP members and Igbo leaders, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths Worldwide have indicated interest to support PDP in 2019 elections.
