Mohamed Salah Retains African Footballer Of The Year Award

Egypt international Mohamed Salah has been named African footballer of the year for the second year running.

The forward clinched the award ahead of his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emeric Aubameyang.

Salah became the fourth man to win the award consecutively following hus triumph in Dakar, Senegsl. El Hadji Diouf, Samuel Eto’o and Yaya Toure were the other stars to win the award back to back.

The 26-year-old was named the BBC African footballer of the year last month also finished third at the Fifa Best Awards and fifth at the Ballon d’Or.

Salah scired 44 times last season as he was named the Premier League player of the season.

In the female category, Chrestinah Thembi Kgatlana scooped the award ahead of Nigerian duo Asisat Oshoala and Francesca Ordega.

The South Africa striker who was voted the MVP at the recently held AWCON in Ghana also won the goal of the year award.
