PDP To Take Campaign To The US Without Atiku (See Why)

FUNSHO AKINWALE

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have perfected all arrangements to take its campaign to the United States of America without Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the party.

His running mate, Peter Obi will represent the former Vice President at major events outlined to commence on January 15 in Washington DC, United States.

The former Anambra State governor will visit the Center For Strategic and International Studies to discuss the party’s economic and security plans as well as his opinion on the future of US and Nigeria relations.

Atiku’s absence at the event is an indication that the Waziri of Adamawa still has a case to answer in the United States.

Last year, a rumor went viral that Atiku is free to enter the US with a new visa just issued to him.

The news hit the former Vice President camp with wide jubilation.

Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo sources claimed to have sealed the deal for Atiku.

Obasanjo’s drastic move was to give Atiku a good image among the electorates and the international community, that Atiku is not a corrupt man and is free to enter the US.

But after our further dig, information has it that it is simply to wave aside the scandal from the political radar.

Presently, Atiku is still ineligible to enter the US after a decade bothering on arrest over his alleged bribery scandal involving a former US Congressman, William Jefferson.

The former Vice President was accused of demanding a bribe of $500,000 to facilitate the award of contracts to two American telecom firms in Nigeria.
