So Sad: Jimoh Ibrahim Loses Mother To Inferno in VGC
78-year-old Omofemiwa Ibrahim, the mother of billionaire businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim was burnt to death.
The old woman died on Saturday during the fire outbreak at Ibrahim’s Road 3BA VGC, Lekki Ajah, Lagos residence .
The swift response of Lagos State Emergency Management (LASEMA) could neither save the old woman nor put out the fire.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau said the fire service was alerted at 2:20am and its Lekki Phase 1 station operatives arrived at the scene around 2:27am before the fire was put out around 4 am on Saturday morning.
He added that the VGC fire station didn’t have enough equipment to subdue the pressure from the fire, leading to the death of Madam Ibrahim
The LASEMA Response Unit in their statement revealed that the inferno was caused by a power surge. They warned Lagos residents to endeavour to check all power units in their home at all times.
The billionaire son of the deceased who is currently based in the United Arab Emirate, Dubai will apparently return home to bury his mother.
It would be recalled Barrister Jimoh relocated to Dubai with his major businesses following the recent recession that pervaded the Nigerian economy.
Hard times hit Ibrahim so bad when he lost Ondo governorship election to Akeredolu after spending billions of Naira to actualize his dream.
After selling off some of his fuel stations at giveaway prices, Jimoh moved to Dubai to pick the pieces of his life before recently relocating his second wife, Biodun and her kids to his base.
There are indications that the remains of Omofemiwa Ibrahim will be buried in her country home in Ondo State.
