The independent National Electoral Commission has released a statement following the withdrawal of Oby Ezekwesili from the presidential race.

The Director of Publicity, Oluwole Osaze uzzi, while reacting a few hours after the withdrawal of the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Oby Ezekwesili, said it’s too late for her to resign from the race.

Oluwole, in his statement, said all plans have been concluded, as the party’s logos are already printed on ballot papers ready to roll out on February 16.

He added that the Electoral Act is against Ezekwesili’s decision to resign at this time, noting that her withdrawal is coming too late after a list of presidential candidates have been published.

The former minister had earlier, on Thursday, announced her resignation from the race, citing better option of forming a coalition with some meaningful Nigerians to arrest power from the ruling party.
