On Friday, the 25th of January, people came from all over Nigeria and beyond to attend the Daily Manna Annual World Anointing Night tagged, ‘From Story to Glory.’

These people were prepared to hear the preacher talk, teach, pray and anoint them, as has been the tradition for years now.

This year seemed different, though, as most attendees were shocked beyond belief at the happenings that unfolded at this ‘holy’ gathering.

The man of God apparently felt Christians had to be involved in politics and his method of executing this plan left much to be desired.

When the Bishop mounted the pulpit, he requested that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Jimi Agbaje climb the podium along with some other political aspirants from Adamawa, Enugu and Imo States to declare their political ambitions and tell the congregation why they should go ahead to vote for them.

Agbaje went on to paraphrase some scriptures in a bid to convince the now divided audience that he was the right man for the job and not Sanwo-Olu or APC. He went on to quote "my people perish because of lack of knowledge ...". Although he failed to explain the knowledge the people of Lagos lacked, he carried on with his propaganda.

Other politicians present at the service were also granted audience to present their case and convince the audience. The strangest part of it all was when the Bishop announced that he needed to take pictures with the candidates.

Murmurings and confused musings from the Christians, who were shocked but too scared to voice out in order not to incur the wrath of God or the politically conscious cleric, immediately came from the back.

After a few hours of miracles and healing, the Bishop was told of the presence of Sanwo-Olu's team. They asked for audience and permission to also address the congregation.

The man of God did not seem pleased with the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate's absence. He asked about his whereabouts and his team members were quick to say, "Babjide Sanwo-Olu is stuck in Abuja currently. He really wanted to come tonight but sends his greetings regardless."

The APC members who looked haggard and unprepared, as if they had rushed to the event after being tipped off about Jimi Agbaje's well crafted speech, started their own campaign. At this point, it was obvious that a lot of the people who came expecting a miracle felt let down. They struggled to concentrate.

After the unemotional speech from APC, the Bishop told them to ask Sanwo-Olu to see him personally whenever he returned to Lagos.

A lot of people in the audience had fallen asleep at this point and even when they woke, their attention had been divided. It became apparent that the cleric preferred Jimi Agbaje to Sanwo-Olu for the seat of Governor of Lagos State. The two had attended the same university (Obafemi Awolowo University) and studied Pharmacy together.
