If information reaching us is anything to go by, then the most senior Supreme Court Judge, Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, from Lagos State may be appointed as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Rhodes is highly favoured to get the plum if National Judicial Council dismisses the suspended Justice Walter Onnoghen and the acting CJN, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed.

It will be recalled that NJC queried the acting CJN, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed, a few days after his inauguration at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The judiciary body also queried the suspended Justice Walter Onnoghen before the two judges were given seven days to respond to the queries against them.

Onnoghen is expected to explain to NJC the allegations made against him and his failure to declare all assets as stipulated by the law.

While his successor, Tanko Muhammed was asked to account why he allowed himself to be sworn-in by President Muhammadu Buhari without the approval of the council, as required by the law.

Justice Olabode was born into the family of Honourable Justice Chief Akinwunmi R.W Rhodes-Vivour in Lagos Island.

Rhodes is a man of sterling qualities and unparalleled achievements who has been successfully involved in various national assignments.
