Kogi State Governor, Yaya Bello, is in a major rift with his deputy, Simon Achuba, over allegations of bribery levelled against his office as Deputy Governor of the State.
Achuba is alleged to have received some money running into millions from contractors working on some roads in the state.
A dependable source close to the government house in Lokoja, the state capital, confirmed to us that the governor only deliberately wanted to mess up his deputy in the public over a rift between them.
The governor was reportedly miffed by the confrontation of his deputy before exposing his financial crime to the world.
What, however, broke the camel’s back was the recent outburst of the new appointee, Edward Onoja.
He openly exposed Achuba at a town hall meeting in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State for accepting bribes from the state contractors.
He also confirmed to the Ibaji residents that the deputy governor is under investigation for the offence..
He further accused Achuba of failure to fulfill the dividends of democracy he promised Ibaji people.
