Ambode Will Not Be Impeached - Tinubu
The national leader of the All Progressives Congress party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Sunday, said Governor Akinwunmi Ambode would remain the Governor of Lagos State till the expiration of his tenure.
The former governor who addressed the media after the peace meeting, which was attended by the state APC leaders, said all is now well between the legislative and the executive arms.
“We have resolved that there would be no question of impeachment in Lagos State.
“The two arms of government will communicate and continue to respect one another and exhibit mutual understanding in the interest of the state
“That is all about politics,” Tinubu stated
Tinubu added that if the rift continues, it would not only affect the state but would have adverse effect on the entire country.
The peace deal which took place at the Lagos House, Marina, had in attendance Governor Ambode, his deputy, Dr. Idiat Adebule, Lagos State Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, deputy speaker, Wasiu Eshinlokun, and Majority Leader, Sinia Agunbiade, among other top-ranked members of Lagos State House of Assembly.
Recall that last Monday, the State Assembly led by the speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, threatened to impeach the governor over financial impropriety.
The lawmakers also gave Ambode seven days to defend himself. Failing, the speaker said, would lead to the removal of the governor.
This chaos went on last week between the executive and the lawmakers before civil rights groups thronged the Lagos State of Assembly premises to protest against the alleged removal of Ambode.
