Social Media Week has gradually become a yearly tradition in Lagos. Influencers and celebrities have helped create a lot of buzz around the event. In Lagos, SMW has tended mostly towards youth and entertainment.

Day 2 was fun and educative with so many workshops. Speaking to one of the attendees of the event tagged, "Utilizing Social Media for Business", she said she didn't understand anything that was going on in the class and she was fashionably dressed to slay.

The major interesting thing about Day 2 of the Social Media Week was the panel session tagged “The Effect of Social Media in the lives of the Youth”. The panelists included Kate Henshaw, Eva Alordiah, Eku Edewor, Eva Alordiah, Denola Grey and Idia Aisen.

The panel session was quite interesting, with one of the panelists talking about her struggles with cyberbullying. She talked about her self-esteem issues and body weight issues and how she was bullied by fellow women on social media after delivery.

Denola Grey talked about self-discovery and avoiding social media as a means of distraction. Eva Alordiah opened up about her two-year battle with depression and how staying off social media helped her recuperate.

Eva emphasized strongly how the media are selfish and are only concerned about making money and deceiving the youth. This utterance almost resulted in a battle of words between Eva and Media personality, Idia Aisen, who bluntly disagreed.

The argument was averted by fellow panelists, Kate Henshaw and Eku Edewor.

Denola Grey seemed quite disinterested in the matter, almost like he could not wait for the panel session to be over and done with.

Kate Henshaw acknowledged that it has not been easy to juggle work and family, but her 18- year-old daughter, who was also present at SMW, has adjusted to her lifestyle. Also Eku Edewor opened up about her struggle with being skinny and not endowed like the norm.

Overall, the panel session was great. Derenle, Michelle Dede, Koko Khloe of Big Brother Naija and Beverly Osu were some of the celebrities that attended the event.
