Friday marked the end of the week long networking and youth enlightening event, the Social Media Week, which held in Lagos.

Social Media Week 2019: Highlights of the Last Day

Although this year's event was graced by a large number of celebrities and social media influencers, it wasn't as grand as the 2018 edition.

The last day of the social media week kicked off with Rise and Shine ... Affirmations by P. J. Okocha. More people came in to attend the “Art of Storytelling” session which was anchored by Xavier Ighorodje and Chekwube Okonkwo.

After that, a lot people were thrilled to partake in the First Bank Ideas Challenge, while others who weren't so interested in being challenged, decided to attend other sessions holding simultaneously, including the “Power of Capsule Groups For Women in the Media” anchored by Banke Alawaye, Ebun Delusional, and Kemi Ogunleye or “African Women Changing the Sexist Poverty Narrative”. This session anchored by Ayoola Olukanni and Mmanti Umoh was quite interesting, as it delved into women empowerment in the society. The third session was “Mindful Colouring” anchored by Oyindamola Fakeye.

Different sessions held all through the morning with interesting teachings by the anchors but one of the most striking sessions was “Preparing for your Wealth Journey” organized by Stanbic IBTC and anchored by the career coach popularly known on Twitter as Ogbeni Dipo.

This session was particularly amusing because most of the attendees seemed to be aggrieved customers of First Bank and took the opportunity of the session to summarily question the backward development of the bank and its refusal to embrace modern stress-free technology of banking like her competitors. In the bank's defense, the Managing Director said their shares were currently skyrocketing more than other banks.

The session was followed with a break during which a lot of attendees and participants networked. One of the attendees who came all the way from Ile-Ife, Osun State, told Happenings that this year's SMW wasn't very exciting for him like that of last year and that most celebrities and influencers attended just to be seen by their fans.

Some other attendees said they couldn't make it all week long because of their jobs and decided to come on the last day for the closing party which they thought would allow them unwind and have maximum fun.

Overall, the Social Media Week was interesting.
