PDP Kicks As INEC Postpones Presidential and National Assembly Elections

Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has reacted to the postponement of the presidential and national assembly elections expected to hold today.

The postponement of the presidential and national assembly elections to March 9 was announced earlier today by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu.

Secondus said the latest move by INEC is a plot by President Muhammadu Buhari to hold on to power when it is glaring that Nigerians no longer want him.

The PDP chairman said the party would go against a disorganised electoral process such as manipulation, harassment and intimidation of voters during the election.

“Having failed in all their nefarious options to enable them cling on to power, the APC and INEC came up with the idea of shifting election, an action that is dangerous to our democracy and unacceptable,” Secondus said.

The PDP chair berated the president, who promised a fair and transparent election, for breaching the signed peace accord agreement by sending soldiers and other security apparatus to arrest and intimidate opponents in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Kano, and Kaduna State.

Prince Uche also reminded Nigerians and lovers of democracy of the threat statement made by the President, saying that nobody can unseat him from office. The statement, he said, is an indication that if Buhari loses at the poll, he would not leave office.
