Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Babasuwe, needs no introduction. The veteran actor is known for his comic roles in Yoruba movies. He was working as a clerical assistant in Victoria Island before setting up his own drama group.

The actor lost his wife, Monsurat Omidina aka Omoladun kenkenlewu, on the 1st of September 2009. The comedian was found dead in her bedroom with blood running from her nose.

In 2011, Babasuwe was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala International Airport with the assumption that he was in possession of hard drugs (Cocaine).

Babasuwe was supposed to be detained for three days, but the NDLEA officials held him for much longer. According to them, this was because they did not want the media to think they had been bribed. He was served different meals to help him defecate, but he did not until the next day.

According to the law, he was supposed to defecate three times and released immediately after, but the reverse was the case. He defecated for more than ten days and was still not released.

The NDLEA decided to flush his system with the hope of finding hard drugs. Still, nothing was found.

After winning the law suit against them, the actor was to be compensated with the sum of 25 million naira (which he is yet to receive) by NDLEA on the order of the Lagos High Court.

It was difficult for Babasuwe to bounce back on his feet after the incident with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agent which spread like wild fire. Producers refused to feature him in movies due to stigmatization and discrimination in the movie industry.

According to the report gathered recently, Babasuwe has been suffering from chronic diabetes, and his fans are blaming friends and colleagues for abandoning him in this trying period.

Popular Yoruba actress, Liz Anjorin, has been accused of not helping the dying actor and she replied by recounting when she needed help from her so-called colleagues to save her dying mother but nobody came to her aid.

She went further to lay a curse on anyone who envies her way of life and advised her haters to mind their business.

Mr. Latin, who is the National President of the Theatre Arts Association, said the association has been taking care of Babasuwe's medical bills since 2017 till date. He further gave the assurance that they will always stand by him.
