Finally the Presidential election is here, after its initial postponement in Feb. 16, 2019 and there has been a massive turnout of Nigerians concerned about establishing their Constitutional Mandate.

The importance of this mandate cannot be overemphasized, as it only occurs every four years and this is the time Nigerians get to choose their leaders.

Despite the election postponement by INEC last weekend, many Nigerians are still enthusiastic about casting their votes at their respective polling units.

Recall that after the election postponement, there were doubts that Nigerians will come out to vote and their electoral enthusiasm may have dampened.

However in some polling units across the country, there are reports that INEC is yet to arrive with election materials, thus disgruntled Nigerians are leaving .

Furthermore some voters are getting agitated at the threat of disenfranchisement because of the unavailability of voting materials and INEC personnel.

There are also reports of discouraging delays at some polling units as ad-hoc INEC staff reveal that some card readers have no battery power or have malfunctioned. There is also the unavailability of stamps.

There are also reports that card readers rejected the finger prints of some electorates and they had to be manually verified.

Even worse, there are reports that some members of the electorates did not find their names at their respective polling units, thus were left discouraged and confused about where to cast their votes.

In the face of these pitfalls from INEC, many Nigerians are staring disenfranchisement quite clearly in the face.

Although the electoral commission extended the voting time in some polling units.
