Prof. Innocent Ibeawuchi, the Returning Officer for Imo West Senatorial District, has said he was forced to declare Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State the winner of the election after he was held hostage.

“I only declared Okorocha winner of the poll under duress by his supporters. He did not win the senatorial seat,” the Prof. said.

Prof. Ibeawuchi added, while addressing the media, that he had to cave under pressure to save his life from the enclave of Okorocha, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the poll.

In the results, as announced by the Prof. Ibeawuchi, Okorocha scored 97, 762 votes to win Jone Onyereri of the People’s Democratic Party with 68,117 and All Progressives Grand Alliance’s Osita Izunso who polled 30,084 votes.

However, despite all odds, Atiku has been declared winner of the Imo State presidential election.
