Why Atiku May Not Never Get Justice - Olisa Agbakoba

Prominent Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, on Thursday, said that the People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, may not get the desirable justice from the legal battle instituted against the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the last presidential election.

The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, while expressing his concern, said he doubts if Atiku would ever get justice following the subversion of the Supreme Court by Buhari.

He said the removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, shortly before the election was a calculative plot to ensure that the outcome of the election would not favour him and would lead to court.

Agbakoba, who earlier had implored Atiku not to challenge the results of the election in court, noted that he foresaw the former vice president finding it difficult to win the case due to circumstances associated with challenging election results in Nigeria.

Agbakoba said that, as an experienced election lawyer, the task of winning an election petition case in the country is always a wasted effort.

“Remember that the gap between former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, and President Muhammadu Buhari is about four million votes.

“It is clear to me that the presidential election results were manifestly riddled with electoral irregularities.

“Now that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has approached the court, it is important to emphasise that he is constitutionally entitled to do so.

“My personal advice has become irrelevant.

“I fully support and wish former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar every success,” Agbakoba stated.
