Benue PDP Sets For Governorship Rerun
As Benue State governorship rerun election is set to hold, the People’s Democratic Party in the state has released the key names of party members to serve as agents for the party during the rerun election scheduled to hold on March 23.
The party agents as listed by PDP are Samuel Ortom, the current Governor of Benue State, the immediate past governor of the state, Gabriel Suswam, former Senate President, David Mark, and former Interior Minister, Abba Moro.
Benue State is among the six states where the rerun election will hold on March 23, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Other states are Kano, Bauchi, Sokoto, Plateau and Adamawa, where a new date will be fixed for the rerun, following the High Court ruling on Thursday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
Ortom, in the first election held on March 9, is leading with 410,329,022 votes while All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime, is behind the governor with 329,022 votes.
The Returning Officer, Prof Sebastian Maimako, on this premise, declared the election inconclusive over cancellation of 121,011 votes.
The PDP is highly favoured to win the rerun governorship election come March 23.
Benue State is known to be the stronghold of PDP, the reason Atiku Abubakar won in the state during the presidential election.
