Charles Ezekwem, the Chairman of People’s Democratic Party, Imo State chapter, on Saturday, accused Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, of withdrawing N 17 billion in three days, which he transferred to his account for personal use.

The PDP Chairman unmasked the shady withdrawal on a press briefing on Saturday in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Okorocha’s accuser alleged that between Tuesday, March 12, and Thursday, March 14, 2019, the outgoing governor withdrew about 17 billion naira from Polaris Bank, Unity Bank, Zenith Bank and Access Bank.

According to the party chairman, he said Okorocha and his aides, in a couple of days, changed ownership and re-registered more than 150 vehicles to individuals.

He added that the government property, including furniture and electronics in the Government House in Owerri were moved out to Ogoko, Ideato South, the governor’s personal residence.

“About 300 uninstalled transformers have been moved to the governor’s home in Ogboko.

“We are also aware of rampant issuance of certificates of occupancy to family members and friends of the Okorocha’s family.

“Reports also reached us that there is an ongoing mass employment and back-dating of employment with a view to creating problems for the incoming government,” the party chairman stated.

The PDP Chairman’s allegation is coming a few days after Emeka Ihedioha, the PDP candidate and Imo State governor elect alleged several shoddy transactions of state funds which Okorocha has been siphoning to his personal account.

But Okorocha has since dispelled the rumour, noting that Emeka Ihedioha is not in the position to question him because he has not been inaugurated as Governor of Imo State.
