Gbenga Daniel Reconsiders Quitting Politics, Heads To APC

Former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has reconsidered his position on quitting politics.

The former governor, who announced on Saturday that he was leaving the People’s Democratic Party and active partisan politics, said on Sunday, after meeting with his supporters at his residence, that he will likely lead his followers to the ruling party.

Many were not surprised by this announcement since his heart was already in the All Progressives Congress party before the 2019 general elections.

Recall that before the governorship election, the former governor had asked his followers to vote for Dapo Abiodun instead of the PDP candidate, Senator Buruji Kashamu.

His supporters, on Daniel’s advice, worked towards the emergence of Abiodun of the APC as the governor-elect in Ogun State.

It was on this premise that his followers were bent on moving to the ruling party after working for the success of the billionaire turned politician.

OGD, while speaking on Sunday, said: “Basically, my supporters said I could resign from PDP.

“They said I must lead them to APC.

“And they also said I cannot retire from politics.

“That is the summary of what I heard.

“Now we have to take a look at it,” Daniel stated.

On the demands of his supporters, the former governor further said:“What else can I say? My people have spoken.”
