Are you guilty of making these mistakes during your period?
A woman’s monthly period is important to her, no matter how painful and gross it may seem. There are mistakes we make during our period that should be avoided, and they include the following:
1. Eating food high in sugar
While it is true that some women crave sugary things, it is important to note that eating too much sugar during your period is not right. Too much sugar can cause severe menstrual pain and can trigger bad emotional episodes. It can also prolong the duration of your period.
2. Forgetting to change your tampon or sanitary towel/pad
This is common among workaholics. Some women do not change their pad for more than 10 hours, which is not hygienic.
Your pad ought to be changed every four to six hours, and for women who use a tampon, you can change it after five hours max in order to avoid bacterial diseases. It is also advisable to wear a sanitary pad to bed instead of using a tampon.
3. Reduce your intake of painkillers
Most women have menstrual cramps when they are on their period. As a result, they use painkillers to ease the pain.
Most of these painkillers have side effects when taken in excess. Rather than popping painkillers, you can drink lukewarm water or try some exercise that will help relieve you of the pain.
4. Not tracking your period
This is not a good idea. If you don't know when your next period is, it means you can be caught off guard and get stained anywhere.
The worst thing that can happen to a woman is getting stained in a public place. In order to avoid this kind of embarrassment, track your monthly period and note when the next one will start so that you can be prepared.
5. Overworking yourself
Some women fall sick when they are on their period, while others become weak as a result of their heavy flow. Overworking yourself during your period might cause dizziness and weakness. So limit what you do during your period. You will need all the energy.
