PDP’s Ahmadu Fintiri Defeats Incumbent Governor Of Adamawa State

Funsho Akinwale

Ahmadu Fintiri, the People’s  Democratic Party governorship candidate, has been declared the winner of the Adamawa State governorship election.

Fintiri, a former acting governor, scored 367,552 votes to defeat the incumbent governor, Jibrilla Bindow, of the All Progressive’s Congress, who polled 336,386 votes. With 40,166 votes margin, Fintiri defeated the Incumbent governor in the election earlier declared inconclusive at the March 9 governorship poll.

The Returning Officer, Professor Andrew Haruna, after announcing the winner on  Friday, said the margin of the lead of 32,476 between the ruling party and PDP candidates was less than the 40,988 votes that were cancelled.

He noted that he was unable to return the winner in such a situation, the reason he declared the election inconclusive during the March 9 governorship election.
