Just like your eyebrows, your eyelashes are important and play a vital role in protecting your eyes. Some of the things your eyelashes protect your eyes from include, particles and dust that can be harmful.

When your eyelashes fall out, it means there is something wrong and you need to correct it. Check out five reasons your eyelashes are falling out and how to prevent it.

1. A poor diet

Like the other parts of the body, your eyelashes also need a balanced diet to enhance growth. To protect your eyelashes, you must eat food rich in biotin, iron, and protein.

2. An  eyelid infection

It is possible that your eyelashes still fall out even when you are eating a balanced diet. This may be as the result of an eyelid infection, especially if you notice swelling around your eyelid. This can cause your eyelashes to fall out and you may need to seek medical attention.

3. Wearing your makeup for long

Leaving your makeup on for a long time is not safe. Yet, some ladies make the mistake of wearing their makeup to bed. Remember that makeup hinders air from penetrating the follicles and this can block your pores and result in inflammation, causing your eyelashes to fall out. If you’ve been wearing your makeup to bed, now is the time to stop.

4. Wearing artificial eyelashes

Wearing of artificial eyelashes constantly can cause your natural eyelashes to fall out. The gum in the lashes has a way of tampering with your natural lashes. Artificial lashes shouldn't be worn all the time in order to keep you natural lashes intact.

5. Your choice of mascara

Don’t use any mascara on your lashes. Choose only products that are known to be good. Don’t use mascara that is exposed or expired. Your mascara has probably been exposed to air if it is thick. It’s dangerous to use mascara that has been exposed because it can cause your eyelashes to fall out.
