The final judgement on the charges of false declaration of assets filed against former Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, will hold today, Thursday, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The tribunal is expected to rule on two applications filed by the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria.

One of the applications is Onnoghen requesting the CCT chairman to disqualify himself from further presiding over the case because of his alleged bias.

While the second one is challenging the jurisdiction of the tribunal to hear the case.

Recall the three man-member panel headed by Danladi Umar, on Monday, fixed Thursday for the judgement after the prosecuting counsel, Aliyu Umar, and defense head, Okon Efut, all adopted their final address.

Onnoghen is facing 3 count charges on his failure to properly declare his assets, which is violation of Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.

Aside the false declaration issue, Onnoghen was suspended from office shortly before the election by President Muhammadu Buhari on discovery of operating foreign bank accounts, which is against the CCT for public office holders.

Onnoghen, in his defense, is questioning the validity of the charge against him.

He queried the federal government by not allowing the National Judicial Council to first investigate the allegation against him before rushing the matter to the tribunal.
