DJ Cuppy promised her fans that she will only make hit songs in 2019. Find out if she made good her promise with her latest single, ‘Abena’.
Florence Otedola, known popularly as DJ Cuppy, has released her long awaited first single in 2019, titled ‘Abena’. The song features Ceeza Milli, Shaydee and Kwesi Arthur, and was shot in Ghana.
With its background and costume being African inspired and portraying originality, the song, ‘Abena’, is a good improvement from her previous songs. The Ghanaian artistes featured in the song had a fair try in interpreting it.
DJ Cuppy is beginning to understand that Nigerians might never stop trolling her for her choice of music, so she decided to test international waters, starting with Ghana. This is not her first Ghanaian collaboration, though, as she already featured Sarkodie in her single of 2018.
In spite of the good, rhythmic beats of the song, the popular Otedola daughter has been trolled by Nigerian fans, with many insisting that she should have sung more. Some have complained of her choice of location and featured artistes, while others observed the African inspired theme and applauded her originality.
Many are quick to judge the DJ perhaps because they feel she is not talented and rides on the wings of an already existing Otedola fame and money. This explains the constant trolling online in spite of her achievements.
DJ Cuppy’s style is almost similar to that of DJ Khaled. She produces the beat and makes a physical appearance in the song. Nigerians need to understand her kind of music. If they could only listen to Vic O and Speed Darlington, they would know that listening to her music is not such a bad thing.
